Dianne Pope's book Hardy is beautifully written and illustrated.
But, what makes this book special is that it is loosely based on a true story of a calf called Hardy.
When Dianne first heard the story of Hardy, she decided to write a poem about his amazing life but was urged to turn the poem into a children's book.
The story has a local connection, with the real Hardy coming from a property in Stroud.
t's a great chance for our little book lovers to learn about how a story comes to life, from words to illustrations, and to hear Hardy read by the person who wrote it.
