Forster Private Hospital quiet room had its official unveiling yesterday, Monday, May 20.

Funded by Great Lakes Palliative Support Care (GLPSC), the quiet room is a place available for patients, their relatives, friends and hospital personnel to gather their thoughts, for prayer and contemplation, for spiritual and religious needs.
After receiving news of a serious illness, or death there was no-where at Forster hospital to take family or friends, GLPSC) president, Deidre Stokes said.
"(Sometimes) the social worker would counsel in the hallway," she said.
The room, which was previously the CEO's office, had been furnished through $16,000 funding from GLPSC which also had in the past 12 months supplied four infusion pumps for oncology, drip stands and four new caps for scalp cooling.

Through its 30 years of fundraising GLPSC had been able to top up a range of medical services and equipment for Forster hospital, and at the same time provide additional services which were not available through the system, Mrs Stokes said.
"We are there for the people.
"But, we cannot do it without the community."
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead paid tribute to the GLPSC volunteers and their tireless efforts to raise much needed funds for Forster hospital
This fantastic facility has only come about from the work of this group, Mr Bromhead said.
He said Myall Lakes had the most number of pensioners and it was the oldest electorate.
"With this comes sickness.
Forster hospital CEO, Deanne Portelli described the room as a beautiful space and thanked the volunteers.
