Tyron Beauchamp's body was discovered by a NSW Rural Fire Service crew on Yarratt Road, Upper Lansdowne, on December 27, 2018 after they had extinguished a small fire in the Yarratt State Forest.
A postmortem examination indicated Mr Beauchamp had been seriously assaulted before his body was taken to the forest and set on fire.
Following extensive investigations through Strike Force Gretna, detectives, assisted by specialist tactical officers, arrested four men at separate homes in Taree at about 7am this morning, Wednesday, May 8.
The men, aged 19, 22, 23 and 24, were taken to Taree Police Station, before being transferred to Forster Police Station.
A 42-year-old man was also arrested at the station just after 8.30am.
Mr Beauchamp had moved to the Taree area in mid-2018.
Investigations are continuing.
