As the sun began to rise across the Great Lakes early this morning, Thursday, April 25, thousands of people gathered in Lone Pine Memorial Park, Tuncurry to honour our Anzacs.

The short commemorative service, which began just before the first ray of light, was a far cry from last year's rain affected observance, which was forced away from its traditional home and into the Club Forster auditorium.
Following a short welcome from Forster-Tuncurry RSL sub-branch president, Ces Miller, representatives from local schools, service organisations and State and Federal politicians laid commemorative wreaths.
For many in the large crowd, the service was an emotional event, commemorating their late relatives by proudly wearing their medals
There was overwhelming appreciation, respect and thanks from members of the solemn crowd for the sacrifices made by these diggers.
Attending her first service, Robyn Philp proudly stood beside her son Brayden, who recently returned home from a stint in Iraq. Brayden is with the army signal corp.
Part-time Forster resident, Debbie Watson who lives in Wellington, NZ was another first-timer.
"I came to show my gratitude," Debbie said.
While Elaine Tate from Tuncurry said everyone should respect our Anzacs.
The Forster Tuncurry march will begin at 10.30am from Park Street, Tuncurry.
