The Big Heart Walk is approximately 28 kilometres following the spectacular coastline of the Great Lakes area.
The walk began as a way to thank the Forster Marine Rescue for its outstanding work keeping the community safe, and in particular for saving the life of Henry Perram in 2013.
Marine Rescue Forster Tuncurry is totally reliant upon donations and community support.
This is our way of showing support for their work, Lori Belic said.
Starting at 6am from the Blackhead Beach Surf Club, the walk will take in the beautiful sunrise over Nine Mile Beach on the way to Tuncurry.
After crossing the bridge into Forster, breakfast will be provided at the Marine Rescue base.
This stretch is approximately 16 kilometres.
From here, the walk continues along the Forster coastline towards One Mile Beach and up to Burgess Head.
The toughest part of the course continues through Booti Booti National Park over Burgess Head and towards Cape Hake Rd.
It culminates at the top of Cape Hawke lookout before returning to One Mile Beach Surf Club for a well deserved swim and refreshments.
Participants are encouraged to do as little or as much as they feel they are able to.
In previous years, some people walked to the Marine Rescue Forster Tuncurry headquarters and stopped after breakfast.
Others started here and finished at One Mile Surf club.
It is aimed as a fun day to help a good cause while enjoying our local area.
The $40 of the $50 cost - includes food and drink for the walk - will be directed to Marine Rescue to ensure they continue its outstanding work.
Please come and join us for a fun and rewarding day, Lorie said.
