Local Lions' club members set up and managed a stall at Stocklands Forster from February 16 to 23 and collected $3,200 in donations from the public.
An additional $300 was put towards the cause from the club's own funds.
Forster Tuncurry Lions Club publicity officer Margaret Kentwell said the response from the community was great, and that like herself, many people knew someone effected by the disaster.
Mrs Kentwell had a granddaughter from Townsville who came down to stay with her in the aftermath of the flood.
Once finalised, the money raised from the flood relief appeal was given to the Lions Club in Townsville, who distributed it to those members of the community who needed it most.
The appeal was organised locally and Mrs Kentwell said the club considered it a great success.
