In total there were two under-10s sides, one under-12 side, two under-14s sides and one under-16 side.

The under-16s was sponsored by Forster Hotwater and had an up and down season.

Being the younger age of the grouping made it a little tough but they were very competitive.

They made it to the semifinals and sadly lost to Taree West.

Great Lakes had two under-14s sides - the Hog's Breath Cafe team and the Jake McCarthy Tiling Services team.

Both sides were competitive all year with the Hog's Breath side winning the minor premiership and the grand final against the Jake McCarthy Tiling Services side.

As both sides played often against each other and with each other over the years, the grand final was played with great respect and sportsmanship.

Great Lakes only had one side in the under-12s, sponsored by Boost Juice Forster.

They played well all year with some new players learning the game.

They made it to the semifinal and played against Buladelah, but sadly Buladelah won the semifinal.

Buladelah had only lost one game all year and it was against the Boost Juice team, so they knew they could do it on the day.

All the children in the side had a blast each game and went home with big smiles even when they lost.

Well done to all coaches and parents to ensure the children were always happy and played with the right mindset.

Great Lakes had two sides in the under-10s - the Forster Tuncurry Professional Real Estate side and the Jack's Moving Services side.

Under-10s is an age for the kids to learn the game and have fun doing it.

The kids seem to have done exactly that.

With the season coming to an end this weekend the club wishes to thank all coaches and parents.

There were some great stories of success for all children in this age group, be it scoring their first run or taking their first wicket.

Great Lakes also trialled the concept of a women's cricket competition.

A trial night was held and had nearly 30 turn up to play.

The club allowed drinks to be consumed as long as there was no glass, and put on a barbecue for all spectators and players.

It was a great night and many walked away laughing and wanting more.

A second night was held with short notice (thanks to the weather) and still had 20 turn up with a barbecue for all again.

It seems like a great concept and the club is glad to say they will be running it again next year.

Great Lakes Junior Cricket Club would like to thank everyone who helped throughout the season, be it club officials, sponsors, coaches, scorers, parents and even those who went for coffee.

With out volunteers they would not be able to do what they currently do for the children.

A reminder that the presentation will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at Club Forster starting from 6pm (arrive 5.30pm) and is free to attend.

There will be plenty for everyone to do and have fun so please come along.
