In every year since 2010, the diminutive TAFE student has reached the final of this State event with her only blemish being a narrow loss in 2012.
Since moving to Tuncurry from the South Coast in 2014, Sarah has now won the Lower North Coast District title for a sixth successive year, adding her 2019 singles win to recent district pairs and triples successes.
"This year's district singles meant a lot to me as I wanted to finish the decade (2010s) the way it all started," Sarah said.
"It was that first win whilst I was still a junior that helped put my name up in front of State and National selectors so ever since I have placed a great deal of importance on the event and I'm pretty sure that this mind-set is the reason why I have been so successful.
"I've had some pretty close calls including a scare in this year's semifinal against Forster's Sue Davies but my desire to win has always seemed to pull me through.
"My coach has always stressed the importance of the 'mental' side of performance and this really proves it."
In this year's final, played at Taree Leagues Bowling Club, Sarah found herself pitted against Wingham's Chris Willey who had gained momentum during the early rounds, improving with every game.
It was Chris's first ever district final, made even more special as her identical twin sister, Leonie Gilford who also plays for Wingham, played against Sarah in the 2015 final.
"I was a little nervous at the start but gained confidence as the game wore on," Chris said.
"But when Sarah got into full swing she was impossible to stop and dominated the game from there on," she said.
"However, it was a great experience for me, one I really enjoyed."
Now that all the district championships have been completed, winning players will now focus on regional finals to be played at Forster Bowling Club from May 14-19.
