The Forster Tuncurry Hawks travelled to Old Bar on Sunday to face the Pirates in three grades in what was the first round of the Group 3 preseason comp.

The Ladies League Tag side got the day off to a great start with an 8-6 victory.
The girls looked very sharp and showed great signs of things to come, with the likes of the returning Ash Alcon and Talisa Eason already gelling well with the girls from last season.
Annika Hudson and Ash Alcon both crossed the line for the Hawks.
The Under 18.5’s started the game with 11 players and finished with 10 in what was an extremely gutsy performance.
The forward pack lead by example with Lleydon Moore-Miller taking multiple defenders to bring him to a halt and Josh Mathers making huge metres with multiple runs per set.
New addition to the hawks Colby Preston also looked comfortable, steering the side around the park in the halves.
The boys were unlucky not to hold on for a draw with the Pirates scoring on the siren to win 16-10.
Lleydon Moore-Miller and Colby Preston were the try-scorers.
The Hawks seniors played the last game of the day and Old Bar got off to a good start getting up a 10-0 lead.
From then on it was a back and forth game with plenty of strong defence from both sides.
There will be a few sore Pirates after a strong return from second rower Luke Ross.
New recruit Ash Grimshaw showed potential out of dummy half and Blake Richardson made the most of his time out there with good metres up the middle.
Hawks centre Ben Murray went in for a second half try, but after a chance went begging on the left edge Old Bar hung on to defeat the Hawks 10-4.
This coming Saturday the Hawks travel to Taree to take on the Bulls in first grade and League Tag.
