A heavy downpour hit around midday and quickly flooded low-lying parts of Manning Road, with water in the left lane outside the Great Lakes Advocate office coming over the gutter onto the footpath.
Local shop-owners and employees gathered outside and helped warn unsuspecting motorists of the hazardous water levels that awaited those not driving to the conditions.
A spokesperson from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) advised that the downpour was not associated with TC Oma but rather onshore flow from a high pressure system to the south.
