The five-day event will form the second of three stops on the NSW Pro Surf Series and takes place from February 20 to 24.
Surfing NSW CEO Luke Madden said the Great Lakes region regularly provided incredible waves for competitors.
“Surfing NSW have been fortunate enough to host a handful of events in the Great Lakes region of the Barrington Coast over the last decade and we feel the waves that are regularly dished up are perfect for the explosive surfing we’re expecting to see over the course of this event,” Mr Madden said.
World Surf League Australia/ Oceania regional manager Will Hayden-Smith said the organisation was excited for the event to return for a fourth year.
“World Surf League is extremely excited to return to the beautiful Boomerang Beach for the fourth annual Mothernest Great Lakes Pro,” Mr Hayden-Smith said.
“Every year this competition has run, we have had exceptional waves and this has been reflected in the volume and quality of the field who attends each year.
“The event has also played an awesome part in the careers of our athletes with a number of previous winners going on to qualify for the WSL Championship tour.
“We can’t wait to watch the competition unfold in this picturesque part of the world in 2019.”
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the event has been locked in for the next three years.
“The NSW Pro Surf Series has been a highlight on the summer surfing calendar for a number of years, so I’m delighted the Great Lakes Pro will be returning to our region from 2019 until 2021,” Mr Bromhead said.
“This event is the perfect opportunity to showcase our stunning location and world-class surf to the rest of the world and with hundreds of competitors expected to be in town for the event, it will once again provide a significant boost to local businesses, accommodation providers, restaurants and boutiques.”
MidCoast Council’s Robyn Brennan said the Great Lakes was an ideal location for hosting an event of this magnitude.
"MidCoast Council is pleased to once again be working with Surfing NSW to bringing the Mothernest back to Boomerang Beach,” Ms Brennan said.
“The event capitalises on one of the most spectacular natural assets of the Barrington Coast region and is well supported by our local community.”
The NSW Pro Surf Series was developed for Australian and international surfers to gain ranking points and prize money on the World Surf League qualifying series.
