It’s an annual tradition that has been shared by generations of local families and visitors alike, ringing in the New Year with dazzling fireworks displays on the banks of the Manning River and along the banks of the harbour at Forster Tuncurry.
Celebrations will kick off from 5pm in both Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree, and John Wright Park, Tuncurry, and will include an exciting line-up of live entertainment, carnival and food stalls, novelties and rides for the children.
“And of course our trademark fireworks displays at 9pm,” said Deb Tuckerman, MidCoast Council’s manager growth, economic development and tourism.
“Come along with friends and family, bring a picnic rug to claim your place and keep an eye out for our sponsors who will have a presence on the night.”
Both Club Taree Fireworks on the Foreshore in Queen Elizabeth Park, and Club Forster Fireworks on the Foreshore in John Wright Park are alcohol free, family friendly events. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, 5pm – 9pm Sunday, December 31.
Major sponsor Club Taree is joined by silver-level sponsors Taree Auto Group, 2RE radio and Max FM, and Edstein Creative as supporters of the Taree event, while Club Forster is also joined by 2RE and MaxFM as well as McDonalds Forster as supporters of the Tuncurry event.
“It’s fantastic to see our local businesses offering their support to the festivities, particularly given the importance of New Year’s Eve celebrations to the local community as well as visitors to our beautiful region,” Deb said.
“It’s this type of support that brings people together in a positive and celebratory atmosphere, and it’s what makes our sense of community so strong.”
