And, judging from the excellent line-up of women who registered, the evening of cricket was a great success.
Twenty eight women registered to play in the Friday night game, which modified the rules to enable maximum participation.
Each player was set a total of 10 balls to face and bowl a total of 10 balls for the game which began at 5.30pm and finished just after 8pm.
“We had some music pumping away and some dancing on the field,” Great Lakes Junior Cricket club registration officer, Rachel Robinson said.
“We cooked some sausages and offered soft drinks for the kids and saw lots of families come and cheer on everyone.
“The night seemed like such a success that the unanimous vote by all was this event must be done again so we will wait for the silly season to pass and look at doing it again.”
Any more women interested can register for the event still at www.playcricket.com.au or contact the club through Facebook @great lakes junior cricket Club.
