From some of the biggest names in entertainment to local amateur artists, there’s been no shortage of talent to ‘tread the boards’ over the years.
The Manning Entertainment Centre’s 30th anniversary will be celebrated this Thursday, December 6, coinciding with the launch of its new 2019 season program, where guests will gather on the stage for a more interactive experience.
“This is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of the Manning Entertainment Centre for our region and to thank our extensive team of volunteers who dedicate more than 2100 hours of hard work each year,” said Chris Tippett, acting theatre manager.
“Their generous, ongoing support is vital to the success of the venue and they deserve to be celebrated too because we wouldn’t have made our 30th anniversary without them.”
The Manning Entertainment Centre was built in 1988 following an extensive fundraising campaign by dedicated community members, some of whom will be attending the celebrations.
Diversity has always been important when collating each season’s program and the January to June 2019 season will be no different, as those attending the launch will be able to attest.
And 2019 will also be a big year for the expansion of the Manning Entertainment Centre’s services, with work set to commence on the new studio theatre space that has been made possible through generous donations from the State Government’s Regional Cultural Fund and the Estate of Beryl June Fleet.
The Waang Djarii Dancers will perform on the site of the future development, as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations.
“The Manning Entertainment Centre is an important asset for local performers and is regularly used by local schools, dance schools and groups like the Taree Arts Council, Manning Valley Choral Society and Taree and District Eisteddfod Society,” added Chris.
“It serves nearly 100,000 people from the Mid Coast region and beyond and will continue to do so for at least another 30 years.”
