Tuncurry Forster Jockey Club will cap off a big year of racing at the Christmas Party race day this Monday, December 10.
Jockey club president Garry McQuillan said the event would provide the perfect backdrop to festive celebrations.
“The atmosphere is great with the thrill of horse racing, icy cold beer and the ambience,” Mr McQuillan said.
A bumper crowd was on hand for last year’s event, and this year would be no exception.
“We’ll have a good crowd here,” Mr McQuillan said.
Hundreds of horses had nominated for the event before acceptances closed on Thursday, December 6.
Mr McQuillan said the jockey club’s new irrigation system would ensure the track was in pristine condition.
“The system is unbelievable, it covers the whole track,” he said.
“It used to take us 13 hours to water the track in its entirety, now it's only five hours.”
Gazebos are sold out while there are only a few spots remaining inside the pavilion.
Free buses will run from Forster and Tuncurry.
Gates open at noon and entry is $5 members and pensioners, $10 non-members, kids under 16 free.
No BYO alcohol or bottles, cans of soft drink permitted.

This will be the club’s final race day for 2018.
