The Forster Tuncurry Hawks will officially kick off their 2019 campaign on Thursday, December 13 when the playing group will meet at Forster Bullring at 5:45pm for a pre-Christmas training session.
First grade coach, Phil Adamson along with his staff, David Elliott and Dennis Christiansen, met with reserve grade and 18s coaches Kyle Carmody and Greg Hill this past week to go over plans for the upcoming season and discuss the growing playing roster that has been building nicely over the last couple of months.
With the addition of experienced forward Matt Wakefield along with the return of a number of former Hawks, the coaching staff are excited to be adding more depth to the senior squad, something that has been lacking in previous seasons.
They are hopeful that the turn-out on December 13 reflects the talk and excitement that is building around town.
While the playing side of things begin shortly, behind the scenes, a new committee has been working hard since last season’s end to strengthen the club’s future both on and off the field.
A number of new sponsors have come on board for 2019 as well as the retention of 2018 major sponsors including Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club, Club Forster, Bellevue Hotel and JR Richards.
There will be a newsletter in 2019 released to all sponsors and supporters to keep up-to-date on the goings on at the Hawks, a number of theme days at home games, and in early February the club will be holding its first fundraising golf day.
The Hawks are still looking for anyone interested in helping out as strappers/trainers.
