What a night we all had at the Sporties Club on Monday, November 26 to celebrate the festive season as well as our 23rd birthday with the theme of ‘Çruising for Christmas’.
The captain welcomed 102 people aboard for a fun evening of eating, dancing, some drinking, singing and much laughter.
The Sporties Club catering staff excelled themselves in the presentation of our dinner, service and general decorations in keeping with our theme.
Who wouldn’t enjoy king prawns, salmon, ham, chicken and a fabulous variety of salads with cake to follow.
Then of course, we were entertained by Gerry Anderson plus a dance troupe made up mostly of our committee, who did their version of the Village People’s ‘In the Navy’. Great fun!
We were busy in October as well… a morning tea at Country Palings Petals and Pots, a VIEW combined church service, a guest speaker, Deb Tuckerman, economics and tourism development officer at Midcoast Council who gave us an insight to her early life in WA and her position here in the Great Lakes.
VIEW stands for the voice, interests and education of women.
This organisation is a great way to meet and make new friends and having fun at the same time whilst raising funds to support the Smith Family.
We will be having our yearly break from now until the next dinner meeting on January 28.
If you have an interest in joining our club, please come along at 6pm to the Sporties Club on January 28, make yourself known at the door and you will be welcomed!
Merry Christmas and happy new year to one and all.
