Fay has not been beaten in any State or National event for 27 years. Of 25 men who took Fay on in the event, only two others got up to 10 boards.
“The next best woman only got to about five,” Fay explained. “Considering I’m nearly 64, I reckon I’m doing pretty well holding my own.”
The next big event on Fay’s calendar is the 2021 World Masters Games in Japan.
“It’s all pretty exciting, I’m looking forward to getting serious about that but I haven’t even had a chance to celebrate this victory yet, it still hasn’t sunk in.”
“But,” Fay continued, “mine is far from the only success story from the day. “Noelene Lever won her creative breaking event, but also became the oldest competitor in the taekwondo event ever.
“That includes men and women.” Seventy-nine year old Noelene has been involved in Fay’s ‘Ninja Nannies’ program for five years.
“Other great success stories were Selena Brookes and Karen Rands,” Fay added. “They did so well for their first competitive event, both being awarded four medals.”
