And that’s what Hallidays Point Lions Club is doing once again with its Drought Relief Concert.

The concert, which will be held in Forster later this month, is packed with local talent in aid of the devastating drought that is affecting our farmers.

The concert features popular local bands Cranky Duck, Matt West (Girl Folder) The Trapps, Glen Mead Band and The Big Fins will crank up the music from 8pm.

Tickets for the November 23 concert at Club Forster, are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 16.

During the past two months Lions Club members have visited drought affected areas, distributing much needed support and comfort to struggling rural areas.

This assistance, supported by donations from local schools and individuals,  has come in the way of  care parcels, hampers, clothing and much more.

While recent rain has helped relieved some areas of the State, it has done little to change the conditions in most of NSW. Farmers and communities continue to struggle.

But, hard as it is to believe the current dry is not as extensive as the long-term droughts of the past.

The only autumn on record drier than this one in southern Australia was in 1902, the year the Federation drought peaked, the Boer War ended, and women got the right to vote.

During the Federation drought, the Darling River virtually ran dry at Bourke.
