Forster Tuncurry Hawks Rugby League Football Club has announced the signing of Matt Wakefield, a well-travelled and experienced forward who has played for various bush clubs including Woy Woy, Oberon and Sawtell.
Matt has also had experience in the Jim Beam Cup.
His wide connections, coupled with those of coach, Phil Adamson will hopefully see many more future signings before pre-season training starts in late November, with a date to be announced in the near future.
Matt said he is looking forward to the season ahead, and has settled into the community with his partner Katy and their two children.
Club stalwart and former premiership winner, Greg Hill has been announced as the under 18’s coach, after taking the under 16’s to this year’s grand final.
The women’s league tag will be coached by Aaron Saunders.
The club’s annual general meeting was held on October 8, with the best attendance for a number of years.
Justin Buttigieg was re-elected as president, with Chris Blomgren as secretary.
Tony Lumptin has taken over as treasurer and will be ably assisted by Lauren Carmody.
A strong committee has been formed around the core executive to take the Hawks forward in season 2019.
