UPDATE
Emergency services and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) advise drivers to expect long delays following an accident on the Pacific Highway one kilometre south of the Karuah exit early this morning.
According to Live Traffic, traffic is banked back for more than three kilometres in both directions.
A contra-flow is in place to enable traffic to flow.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 3am this morning, Tuesday, October 9 following reports of a head-on.
According to police a north-bound prime-mover crossed onto the south-bound lane crashing head-on into a truck travelling south.
The 23-year-old driver of the north-bound vehicle was taken to John Hunter Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.
The driver of the other truck was in injured.
