“It’s gotten to that point of their southern migration where there are plenty around,” he said.
Shane snapped some fantastic photos of a group of humpback whales off Forster late last week, from the deck of the Amaroo.
“They are definitely worth having a look at,” he added.
“For anyone who can’t get out on a boat to have a look, if you head up to the headlands in the daylight you’re sure to see them.”
Experts from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) are encouraging residents to head to their nearest coastal national park to seek out a vantage point to see the whales on their annual migration.
Keen whale watchers are likely to see larger groups of humpback whales as they move along the NSW coastline.
More than 30,000 humpback whales will make the migration this year.
