The collection point, located at 48 Midge Orchid Road Tuncurry is an automated depot, capable of taking large amounts of containers.
“Resource Recovery Australia is proud to operate the only automated depot in the Myall Lakes area,” Resource Recovery spokesperson, David Rees said.
“It provides much needed access for the community of the Myall Lakes to a high volume efficient return service.”
Return and earn is the State’s largest litter reduction initiative and has helped to reduce eligible drink container litter by a third since its introduction at the end of last year.
“Participating in return and earn is now easier than ever on the Mid North Coast, with a range of return points available,” Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said.
“These include reverse vending machines, over-the-counter sites and now a new automated depot.
“The addition of this new automated depot means that people now have a convenient and quick way to return large amounts of containers, ie 500 or more, as well as smaller numbers.
“Return and earn has been widely embraced by the community with more than 7.8 million containers already returned in the Myall Lakes region.
“More than 681 million containers collected state-wide since the scheme began last December.”
