Dundaloo Support Services have held a fundraising ball, with a target of raising $1000 to help the Special Olympics athletes from the Mid North Coast who have been chosen to represent Australia at the next Special Olympic World Games.

From Forster, Teila Bulmer was selected to represent Australia in swimming, and Jason Holley will stand up in the green and gold for ten pin bowling.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, the event raised $1400.
On top of this, Dundaloo added another $1000, and this was topped off by the Mid North Coast Country Music Association’s Country and Western Society’s donation of a further $1000.
A second fundraising event, a ten pin bowling night, was held for the athletes over the weekend at Forster Bowling Club, with the Forster Entertainment Centre donating the venue.
“We raised another $757 to help the athletes,” Jason’s mother, Julie Daskal explained.
“Again, thanks to our local community and the Port Macquarie Special Olympic team members.
“I would like to personally thank everyone who attended both events, especially Dundaloo, Mid North Coast Country and Western Society and Forster Bowling Club.”
The Special Olympic Games will be held in Abu Dhabi in March, 2019, but before then, the Mid North Coast athletes have a plenty more fundraising ventures planned.
On Sunday, September 23 the team has organised a barbecue at Bunnings in Forster, which will run from 8.30am-4pm.
A trivia and auction day is lined up for Sunday, October 21 at Forster Bowling Club, a “ten-pin-bowl-a-thon” will be held on Sunday, November 25 at Forster Entertainment and Ten Pin Centre, and a corporate bowling event is scheduled for Sunday, February 10, 2019.
