On Sunday, September 30, the rumble of vintage motorcycles will echo from the streets of Forster to join more than 120,000 others across the world in a bid to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

For the first time, Great Lakes resident, Roddy Donegan is bringing the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to Forster, and is encouraging the community to get involved.
“The ride is held around the world at 10am on the last Sunday in September each year, it’s all about vintage and old school bikes,” Roddy explained.
“So far we have 12 people registered to take part in the Forster ride, and we want to encourage as many others out there as possible to come along, it should be an awesome day.”
The cause hits close to home for Roddy, who lost an uncle to suicide 15 years ago, so when he discovered the ride a couple of years ago, the idea stuck with him.
“I took part in the Port Macquarie ride last year, and it was just great, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a ride set up in Forster, it’s such a beautiful area of the coast,” he said.
This year, Roddy has signed Forster up to host its first ride, and is encouraging everyone in the community to get involved.
Last year’s event raised a whopping $4.84 million world wide, with this year’s goal $6 million.
Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, and 510,000 men die from suicide globally each year. That’s one every minute.

Riders are encouraged to dress in their finest tailored suit, silk waistcoat, crisp shirt, stylish cap and polished brogue.
Vintage bikes include cafe' racer, bobber, classic, tracker, scrambler, old school chopper, modern classic, sidecar, classic scooter and brat styled motorcycles.
