The Great Lakes Pharmacy jumped on board with the drought relief appeal with a fundraiser inspired by a passionate young pioneer.
The Tuncurry group recently held a barbecue to raise awareness and money for farmers in drought-stricken areas.
The fundraiser, “Five for a Farmer”, was inspired by the campaign organised by a young boy, Jack Berne in Victoria, organiser, Sharyn Snow explained.
“He wanted to raise $20,000 for the struggling farmers.
“On the day, with support from the community we raised $1200.”
The event was just one of many campaigns currently underway across the Great Lakes region, as many in the community get involved with fundraising, collecting donations, raising awareness and much more.
“A big thank you to Golden Gate Bakery, Perry’s Fruit Shop and Tuncurry Washaiteria,” Sharyn added.
