At around 6.20am on Saturday, August 11, a call was made to the Forster dwelling, which had sustained damage to the back veranda and the laundry.
When crews from Forster Fire and Rescue arrived, the building was well alight at the rear, with fire spreading into the ceiling, but was contained quickly.
“The house is believed to contain some asbestos,” Manning Great Lakes Police District Chief Inspector Christine George said.
“There was no-one home at the time of the fire, and no-one injured in the blaze.
“At this stage, there is nothing to suggest the fire was suspicious, and MidCoast Council has been notified of the asbestos issue.”
The fire was attended by crews from Forster Fire and Rescue and Taree Fire and Rescue.
