Competition matches were played in southern and northern sections, with all games on Friday evenings. Forster-Tuncurry, Old Bar, Taree and Wingham contested the southern pool. The pools will merger for the semi-finals.
Emma Connors, who coaches Forster under 14s, said the concept proved to be a great success.
“Playing Friday nights worked,'’ Emma said.
“It allowed the girls to play other sports, like hockey or netball, on Saturdays.’’
Emma explained the competitions will be a pathway to Group Three women’s league tag sides.
“A lot of the girls hadn’t played league tag before this season although a number had played touch,’’ she said.
Matches will continue to be played on Fridays through the semi-finals. Grand finals will be at Wingham on Friday August 31. Meanwhile the semi-finals of the Group Three Junior League competitive grades will be played tomorrow at Tuncurry.
