Well I opened the can of worms last week when I selected my best ever Australian touring car racer.

This week I'm keeping the can open by selecting Australia's best ever racing driver.
Motor sport has been around for 100 years but my memories are limited to the 60s onward.
Let's consider some drivers from early eras, Jack Brabham, Leo Geoghegan, Ian Geoghegan, Allan Moffat, Greg Cusack, Spencer Martin and Frank Matich.
From later times, Alan Jones, Mark Webber, John Bowe, Peter Brock, Craig Lowndes, Mark Skaife, Jamie Whincup and Daniel Ricciardo.
Australia's only Formula 1 world champions Jack Brabham and Alan Jones have got to be high on the list as have our other F1 racers Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo.
But my selection as the best ever Australian racing driver is 60s racer Frank Matich.
Matich had enormous skill and was successful in open wheelers, high powered sports racing cars and touring cars.
Matich also designed and built his own sports racing cars and F5000 cars.
Again a decision that will no doubt bring much discussion and controversy.
