If you didn’t get a chance to attend Anna Salleh’s outstanding show Gorgeous Songs from Brazil & Beyond at the Port Macquarie Glasshouse a few years back that opportunity is coming to the Great Lakes.
Since then she’s teamed up with award-winning guitar master Guy Strazz, who is well known for his albums and collaborations with artists such as Slava Grigoryan, Ashok Roy, Matt McMahon and Vince Jones.
If you like Tuck & Patti (or Rodrigo y Gabriela) you’ll love Anna and Guy.
In a daring performance of power and intimacy, the two breathe new life into Brazilian classics – from the bossa novas to samba and much more.
Their creative journey has also seen the birth of lovingly-crafted original songs, including lyrics set by Anna to Guy's award-winning tune Mandela.
Along with irresistible rhythms and melodies of other styles from Rio de Janeiro and beyond, virtuosic instrumentals, and much loved ballads, this performance is not to be missed.
Beyond The Girl from Ipanema, come on a deeper journey into the heart of Brazilian music ...and more.
"I've had a life-long passion for Brazilian music," Anna, who fell in love with bossa nova when she first heard the sound track to the film Black Orpheus many years ago said.
"I first tracked Guy down nearly 10 years ago to get some guitar lessons from him – and the rest is history.”
"This led to the discovery that we both love Brazilian music,” Guy said.
"Given Anna’s ability as singer of this music, it was a collaboration that evolved naturally."
The pair will perform at the Tuncurry Memorial Hall at 3pm on Sunday, September 9.
