A lot of farming families are going without the daily necessities to redirect the money into hand feeding their livestock.
Green Thumbs Mowing Great Lakes duo, Rowena and Grant Palmer jumped at the chance to get involved with the statewide donation drive set up to collect donations for non-perishable items and toiletries from the local community for distribution to local farmers.
“I knew this was something we could get behind and help with,” Rowena explained.
“I decided to ring a few businesses, them then I publicised the idea on our Green Thumbs Mowing business page.
“Within 24 hours I had 4693 likes and thousands of shares, the next morning a friend, Kristy and I went to set up four original drop off points.
“Within hours we had eight, and now there are 15 drop off points at various businesses people can donate through.
“It’s great the town has really gotten behind us and we all want to help our farmers it’s fabulous.”
