Port Macquarie’s Darren Wallis is the third athlete to be chosen from the region, also for ten pin bowling.
To attend the Games, each athlete will need to raise and pay $7000 each, and leading the fundraising charge is Jason’s mother, Julie Daskal.
“Our fundraising will help our local athletes achieve their dream of representing Australia, but will also support our Mid North Coast Region and New South Wales,” Julie said.
“For these athletes, it is a dream come true, and something Jason has always aimed to achieve, we are so proud of them.
“Having three athletes chosen from our region is a fantastic achievement!”
The team from Australia will consist of 105 athletes and 35 officials, who will form part of a total 7000 athletes representing 177 different countries at the event.
There will be 3000 coaches across a range of 24 sports, with 20,000 volunteers to help organise and run the event, and 500,000 spectators are expected to grace the stands.
