Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into the discovery of a body after a house fire in Raymond Terrace, and a subsequent head-on crash at Bulahdelah on the morning of July 7.
Emergency services were called to a house on Rosemount Drive at Raymond Terrace about 12.30am on Saturday, July 7, after reports of an explosion and a fire.
A body was found inside the house by fire fighters.
Police say the body is yet to be formally identified; however, the 76-year-woman who lives in the home has not been accounted for.
About 1.20am Saturday, July 7, a northbound Nissan X-Trail and a southbound B-double truck collided in the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway, about five kilometres north of Bulahdelah.
A 69-year-old man driving the Nissan was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains under police guard. Police were investigating if the incidents were linked.

Tea Gardens
On July 6 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter airlifted a 73-year-old man to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle following a cycling accident at Tea Gardens.
The man had serious and multiple fractures after he ra nto a stationary vehicle on his pushbike.
The man was in a serious condition.
