It’s a veritable smorgasbord of bargains – Forster-Tuncurry’s annual Crazy Day shopping bonanza.
This year’s mid-year sale is being held on Saturday, July 14.
The annual event features great take-home bargains across a range of the participating stores.
With Wharf Street remaining open throughout the day for the first time this year, retailers have embraced the new concept, bringing stock onto the streets for a side-walk sale like no other.
MidCoast Council’s vibrant spaces concept will enable retailers to draw on their collective inner creative talents.
“We are all independent local retailers selling hand picked, quality merchandise,” Manning Shoes owner, John Mansour said.
“We sell good quality stock,” he said.
Unlike previous years, when retailers focused on trying to clear old stock, slow sellers and end-of-season merchandise, the 2018 Crazy Day will include goods which are trading-out.
“This is unique for us,” Amanda Hurley from Coasting Home said.
“There will be lots of great bargains.”
Retailers will open early and continued trading throughout the day, or when the last customer leaves their shops.
Sharing the space will be the local Scouts group which will have a sausage sizzle, while a trailer from the Great Lakes Women’s shelter will take donated, recycled bottles and cans.
“We will have lots of activities and fun things to do, like face painting, and huge give-aways,” Amanda said.
Not to be outdone, Tuncurry Pharmacy has been preparing for the big event for much of the year.
July 14 will be the ideal date to make that special occasion, birthday and Christmas gift purchase.
The pharmacy will discount all its giftware lines by a cool 25 per cent.
“We are delighted to once again showcase and support our independent retail community through this annual event,” Great Lakes Advocate (Manning Great Lakes and Gloucester) sales manager, Kelly Payne said.
