Coolongolook Public School students travelled to Tuncurry Oval to compete in the 2018 Small School Athletics Carnival recently.
The day started with an early bus trip to the venue, with all students in high spirits and ready to take on the sporting challenge.
Students competed against athletes from Barrington, Stratford, Bungwahl and Krambach schools.
Events included the 100m, 200m, relay, long jump, high jump and shotput.
There were some fantastic results from students in their various events.
The biggest surprise came at the end of the day when Coolongolook Public School was announced as the 2018 Small School Champion.
This was the first time in the small school trophy’s 35 year history, that Coolongolook has won this carnival.
An extremely exciting moment for the school and community.
A big thank you to the students from every school who competed on the day.
It was a wonderful show of great sportsmanship, and positive behaviour was on display, and everyone should be very proud of their achievements.
This carnival was a great example of why small schools really are great schools. Well done everyone.
