In the past weeks, Ted has been busy educating the next generation of community-focused minds through workshops at several schools in the area.
“I’ve just got 10 new kids from Great Lakes College in Forster who have been fantastically enthusiastic about getting on board and cleaning up the community,” Ted beamed.
“They are year seven and eight students, it’s just so heart warming to see young people caring about this sort of thing.”
But Great Lakes College isn’t the only school with students keen to get involved, Ted has also undertaken a new project with 20 students from Bulahdelah Central School.
“This group has just blown me away with their organisation and commitment,” Ted said.
“They have done a brilliant job, dividing into four groups, going out into the school and identifying all the areas that need to be cleaned up, then colour coding and organising themselves.
“I’m just thrilled to bits.”
Also excited about the progress being made by the students is Bulahdelah Central School principal, Deb Gilbert, who sung the praise of Ted and his new apprentices.
"Ted deserves a huge shout out,” Deb said.
“He has partnered with a team of year five to 11 students to clean our school from graffiti.
“They had a training day recently, to learn the different products that they will be using and how to select the right one for each situation.
“In preparation for the training our students formed teams, took responsibility for a zone in the school and conducted an audit of the graffiti within it.
“Next term our students will start cleaning their zones and maintaining the cleaner environment within our school.
“This will time nicely as we prepare for an open day at our school with the 150th celebrations on September 22-23”.
