“The survivor elective encompasses an array of practical applications throughout the course,” relieving head teacher PDHPE, Tom Freeman explained.
“One of these practical activities is the “shelters from scratch” component.
“Students using their knowledge of shelters from the theory based lessons design and build shelters solely using natural material from the southern area of the college.”
To create survivor shelters from scratch, students apply their knowledge and focus on a number of major aspects.
These key considerations include suitable size, strength, insulation and water proofing.
The effective use of these elements is tested to conclude the topic.
In this class group, students got creative in the construction of their shelters.
