Is it good news or bad news?
Last year rumours were swirling around the Tea Gardens community the State government was planning to close the police station.
Residents voiced their concerns at an urgent community meeting, called by Member for Port Stephens Kate Washington.
Following wide media coverage, which reached the high echelons of both the police and politicians, the government assured the station would not close.
Resident, Gordon Grainger believed the community’s strong response has kept the station alive.
An impromptu meeting will be held outside the police station this Friday, June 1 at 11.45am, Mr Grainger said.
“The community will be addressed by a very senior member of our State government who intends making an announcement on the future of the station.”
As it will be a member of the current government, perhaps good news, Mr Grainger surmised.
“We as a growing and vibrant community need to visible and show we care, so please make every attempt to be there and let your friends and neighbours know time and place.”
