It was a cold early start for the fourth round of the Forster Bodyboarding Club’s monthly competition.
Small clean waves greeted the competitors at Tuncurry beach and as the day warmed up so did the conditions with a dropping tide and an increase in swell making for a really fun day for the event.
It was a busy groms final with six youngsters keeping the judges on their toes.
Seb Gonzales took the win ahead of Harry Twomey with third place going to young the young female competitor Shay Kennedy.
Drop knee local legend, Tom ‘Donz’ Donnelly took the win in the DK division with the two highest scoring waves of the final ahead of James Cunningham.
In the women’s division it was Millie Chalker who took the win with some clean rolls and nice barrels with Shay Kennedy in second who surfed amazing all day ahead of Ella Tattersall who placed third.
Drew Sheedy proved he is the man to beat in the masters’ taking another win in a close final with Shane Chalker coming in second.
In the juniors division Nathan Price made the trip up from Nelsons Bay worth the drive taking firstplace ahead of local Tristan Sheedy who is improving dramatically with every competition that he enters consistently making the big moves he goes for.
When the open final started it was James Cunningham who got off to a great start with an excellent wave in the first few seconds but couldn’t back it up with a second wave and having to settle for third place with Josh Aurisch who surfed consistently all day to take second.
But it was undefeated Finn Black who had the luck of the ocean on his side getting some of the bigger longer waves and the final win.
The next FBC competition will be held on June 2 at Tuncurry beach car park at 7am.
