
WALLIS Lake proved too strong for the Taree Wildcats in the round seven Football Mid North Coast Premier League clash at at Boronia Park in Forster.
Lakes scored twice in each half to score a 4-0 victory to remain undefeated with five wins and a draw from the six matches. They’ll head up to Kempsey next weekend for a top of the table clash with Macleay Valley Rangers.
The Wildcats will host Kempsey Saints at Omaru Park next Saturday.
Macleay Valley Rangers kept their 100 per cent record in tact with a 3-2 victory over Tuncurry Forster Tigers. They had to do it the hard way at South Street in Tuncurry after being 2-0 down at halftime. The Tigers positioned themselves well for a vital three points in front of their home crowd, but Rangers finished strongly to come away with the victory. Rangers have now won six from six and will now welcome the undefeated Wallis Lake side to Dangar Street next weekend. Tuncurry-Forster have slumped to the the bottom of the table and are the only side yet to win a game this season. They will travel to Wauchope next Saturday.
Wauchope SC pulled off an upset at Dixie Park with a 2-1 defeat of Port United. Wauchope have been threatening to break through for a victory and scored twice early in the match to give them every opportunity. United pulled a goal back in the second half, but they were left to rue a number of missed opportunities. They will have a bye next weekend as they prepare for their round six FFA Cup clash with Lambton Jaffas on Saturday July 9. Wauchope will have the chance to make it back to back victories when they host Tuncurry Forster next up.
At Eden Street in Kempsey, the Kempsey Saints locked themselves into third spot on the ladder with a hard fought win over Port Saints. It was 1-1 at the half time break and the home side scored the only second half goal to win 2-1. Kempsey will travel to Taree next round to take on the Wildcats. Port Saints will head back to their home field next weekend when they host the Camden Haven Redbacks coming off the bye. The Saints will be desperately seeking points and are six points out of the top five while the Redbacks will also be intent on staying in touch with the finals positions.
The Round 5 catch up match between Port United and the Taree Wildcats has been booked in. The sides will meet at Dixie Park on Tuesday 19th of June.
