Work, which would include installing and upgrading concrete pedestrian refuges at the intersection and resurfacing the road, was expected to be finished by mid-June, weather permitting.
To minimise impact to motorists, work would be undertaken between 7pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday.
Some work also would be carried out between 7am and 5pm on weekdays.
Traffic control, intermittent lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h would be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
