The station threw open its doors, along with hundreds of other fire stations across the State, to invite the community to experience life as a fire and rescue worker.
Firefighter, Tim Croker said 350-400 people attended the event.
“We had a vehicle rescue demo where we cut up a car, and a sausage sizzle as well, but ran out of sausages by 12pm. We will make sure next we have a lot more next year,” he said.
The Forster fire station released a comment on Facebook, which stated the day was a fantastic success.
“There were plenty of smiling kids of all ages who enjoyed getting up close to our fire trucks, asking lots of good questions and learning a thing or two from our firefighters. And, as always, our rescue demonstration had a lot of interest. A big shout out to everyone that stopped by to make our open day a great success. We’ll be doing it all again in 12 months time,” the comment read.
The open day gave communities a chance to check out the fire trucks and stations, get home fire safety tips and to meet their local firefighters.
The event ran from 10am-2pm, with many witnessing first-hand the broad range of skills and equipment used to assist our local firies.
The fire station is prepared for anything and helps anyone, anywhere, anytime.
