Healthy Harold visits Forster Public School

Forster Public School recently had a visit from Healthy Harold in the life education van, as part of the life education program.

The program runs out of the van which travels around to various schools, addressing many of the outcomes in the physical development/health and physical education curriculum.

The cost of a visit from Healthy Harold is $10 per student, however, as part of its service to the local community, Club Forster sponsors each child to the tune of $5, meaning that the cost of attending is only $5.

In kindergarten, students look at “my body matters” with a focus on ways children can keep themselves healthy, including the importance of personal hygiene.

Year one and two students looked at “safety rules” which are designed to assist in recognising safe and unsafe environments.

Students in year three and four study a unit called “all systems go”, which emphasises factors that influence the function of body systems including exercises and drugs.

The senior classes, years five and six explore the “decision making” process, which aims to improve decision making skills by considering choices
