
Local community broadcaster, Great Lakes FM has again excelled at the Southern Community Media Association’s ‘X’ Awards bringing home a swag of awards.
Held in Wagga Wagga in late April, the award presentation was the highlight of the three-day conference.
The awards were presented at a gala dinner with representatives of community radio stations from all over Australia attending.
“The ‘X’ Awards are a bit like the Logies of community radio and attract entries from all over Australia so competition is very fierce,” station manager, Andrew Farr said.
Great Lakes FM was a finalist in six of the 10 categories, and won three .
“This is about excellence in community broadcasting and I think it is a true indication of what a great team we have here at Great Lakes FM,” Mr Farr said.
“I’m glad that our hard working and dedicated volunteers have achieved the recognition that they deserve.”
The finalist certificates and trophies are proudly on display in the foyer of the radio station’s Douglas Avenue, Tuncurry headquarters.
“Everybody is welcome to come in and see what their local community radio station has achieved.”
The categories Great Lakes FM was a finalist in were:
- Best Outside Broadcast – Wallamba District Show by Kevin Walsh
- Best Interview – Emily by Robert Davis
- Best Locally Produced Program (Music) – Reggie’s Rewind with Reggie Russell
- Best Locally Produced Program (Non Music) – Pet Talk with Dr Dave and Robert Davis
- Best In House Production of a Sponsorship Announcement – Our Fish by Reggie Russell and Doug Hodgess
- Best In House Production of a show promotion – Get the Party Started by Janice Dance
The categories Great Lakes FM won outright:
