The 2018 Taree and District Eisteddfod is well underway at the Manning Entertainment Centre with more than 3000 competitors expected to perform over the coming weeks.
Growing from humble beginnings to become one of the biggest, and most highly respected, eisteddfods in country NSW, the event attracts some of the best adjudicators in the country and provides a stage for the stars of tomorrow.
Today there are six sections catering to the talents of performing artists competing in vocal, piano, instrumental/bands, speech/drama, dance and choirs.
The vocal section kicked things off on April 24 and will conclude tomorrow making way for the pianists.
By far the most visually spectacular is the dance section.

From next week more than 2000 dancers will showcase their well rehearsed routines and dazzle in their custom made costumes.
The dance section continues to grow with numbers once again up for 2018.
For more than 33 years Margaret Rogers has coordinated the dance sections and has seen thousands of performances that have moved her in some way.
From the shy little three-year-olds in the Baby section who keep one eye on mum in the wings, to the 80-year-old realising a long-held dream to perform.
The novice and group sections get the dance sections underway from May 8.
Audiences are expected to pack the MEC for performances on May 11,12 and 13 for the dazzling group weekend.
The eisteddfod will wrap up with the grand concert on Saturday June 16.
