The Forster Tennis Club is hosting 265 junior tennis players from April 27-29 for the ANZ Forster Ditchfield Contracting Tennis NSW bronze level event, with age groups from under 10 to under 16 catered for in doubles and singles events.
Forster’s juniors have been training hard for their home club tournament under the skilled coaching of Jaime McDonagh, Brenton Chambers and Lisa Bullivant.
Jade Cremin will be cheering from the court side after breaking both arms during training one day.
All the best for a healthy recovery.
The 10 year old clay courts located at the rear of the club have received a major face-lift, after being out of shape two weeks prior to first matches being played.
Although they are routinely cared for by Jaime McDongah, some work was needed to get them up to scratch.
The volunteers who make up the backbone of the tennis club rose to the challenge of repairing the 10 year old courts, with John Halpin, Ian Tull, Ray Moarse and Jon Winmill contributing significant amounts of their time.
The courts now look like a surface one would play on at Roland Garos.
If any club members would like to donate cakes or slices or volunteer to help out at the upcoming event there is a sign up board in the club house.
Best of luck to all competitors.
