Members of the community are invited to attend a number of community update meetings being held across the Lower Mid North Coast region in coming weeks.
Representatives of MidCoast Council will travel to a number of locations to engage with the community and discuss upcoming projects in the region.
The meetings will kick off in Taree on Wednesday, April 18, and continue across the Mid Coast over the next four weeks.
Acting general manager, Steve Embry said the meetings have proven to be a popular forum for local residents to stay on top of what’s happening at council in a relaxed environment.
“Hosting the meetings in different locations is invaluable in not only understanding the specific areas of concern for each community, but in acknowledging that while we’re all part of one local government area, each locality has a uniqueness that is important to retain as we move forward,” Steve said.
Held in ten different locations, the sessions run for up to two hours and are designed to provide a progress report on council's strategic priorities, what’s been undertaken in recent months, activities currently underway, and importantly an overview of what local communities can expect to see coming up in their local area.
In this round of meetings, members of council’s management team will provide an update on improvements to the way council interacts with its customers, explain the recruitment process for its new general manager, outline the gateway approach being used to assess the potential office relocation and discuss the draft delivery program and operational plan.
“Roads and bridges are always high on the agenda, having been identified early on as the community’s number one priority,” Steve added.
“We always aim to provide locals with a general update on where we’re headed strategically in improving our transport network, but also drill down to a local level with information relevant to each locality.
"One of our objectives for these meetings is to meet and hear from a broad cross-section of our community, and those people who don't regularly interact with council.
“That's why we encourage people thinking about coming to grab a friend, a neighbour or a young person and bring them along too.”
