Entries are now open for the 2018 Taree Open Art Exhibition.
To be presented in July by Taree Artists, the art society of the Manning, it is two years since the exhibition was last held.
“Unfortunately we had to cancel last year’s exhibition because the venue was unavailable,” president Beryl Moriarty said.
“We’re back this year, bigger and better. Better because we’ve moved the official opening to Saturday afternoon, which will allow people living further away to be home before dark.
“We’re encouraging more of our talented local artists to participate.”
About 400 artworks are expected to be displayed and entry to view the exhibition is free.
Treasurer Christine Long said more than $6000 in prize money would be offerce and artists had the chance to sell their works.
A people’s choice award also encourages visitors to look closely and critically at the works on display.
More than 1000 people are expected to visit during the exhibition which runs from Sunday, July 15 to Sunday, July 22.
It will be open daily from 9am to 4pm, except for the last Sunday when it closes at 2pm.
The official opening will be held on Saturday, July 14, with doors to open 1.30pm and the prize presentation at 2.30pm. Entry is $10 and light refreshments will be served.
Artist entry forms can be downloaded from www.tareeartistsinc.com.au or picked up from Manning Regional Art Gallery, Macquarie Street, Taree; the Craft Cottage, corner of Pulteney and High Streets; the newsagent in Manning Street, Taree; and Not a Café in Isabella Street, Wingham.

Taree Artists welcomes anyone who would like to participate as a member of its society to help with the organising and setting up of the exhibition.
