On the Mid North Coast the Bureau of Meteorology said south to southeasterly winds will gradually turn northeasterly during Friday as a high pressure system moves over the southwestern Tasman Sea and extends a ridge to the northwest. Winds will freshen over the weekend ahead of a cold front approaching from the west, which will bring a vigorous southerly change to the southern half of the coast later on Sunday.
The bureau warns surf conditions may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
