The Seaside Heritage Quilters have played an integral role in the Great Lakes community for 30 years, and while you may not know the name, chances are you have stumbled across some of their fabulous fabrications.
“We currently have 35 wonderful members, and are open to anyone wishing to discover the world of quilting and join like-minded people who are only too willing to share the adventure,” publicity officer, Vicki Buchanan said.
“We have a library of books, magazines and patterns we are happy to share that cater to every ability, from beginner to professional.
“Meeting days can involve workshops using our new go-cutter machine, guest speakers and always a ‘show and tell’, where members proudly display their recently completed projects. Also, we annually hold a members challenge.”
Seaside Heritage Quilters have enjoyed creating and donating quilts to local area charities and not for profit organisations for many years.
2018 is the year that we celebrate 30 years of continuous quilting activities in the Great Lakes area.

Most recently, the group made quilts for the children’s ward at John Hunter Hospital, as well as raffle quilts for Great Lakes FM, CanAssist, Great Lakes Women’s Shelter and Mid North Coast Angel Gowns.
“We continue to offer members a chance to experiment with textile art with monthly workshops, bus trips, also making available tutor workshop with QuiltNSW tutors and other well-known artists,” Vicki said.
“Biennially we hold a quilt exhibition over the October long weekend were we showcase our creations and workshop projects made over the last two years.
“2018 is the year that we celebrate 30 years of continuous quilting activities in the Great Lakes area, and we are hoping to showcase members projects from previous years at our October exhibition, and will continue to celebrate throughout the year with other functions.”
The group meets from 10.30am-3pm, with new members always welcome and no previous experience required.
